It's an old line in politics but it has teeth!

From where I sit Canadians are tired, we are tired of going to the polls, we are tired of the recession, we are tired of the fear mongering, we are tired of the slashing, slandering, playground antics of parliament hill, we are tired of majorities and dis-functional minorities, we are tired of bad News and heartbreak, we are tired of protests and lies, in short we are sick and tired of it all! I can't remember a time in Canadian history when we were so low as a Nation. I even saw on one blog that perhaps its time we just broke up Canada and got it over with what's even scarier is several people agreed with him and few against, and I find that very disheartening. Regional interests are dividing us more and more and this is a result of our national disunity and the continued presence of the Bloc in Parliament. The Liberals after the disaster that was Dion have moved more right under Ignatieff in order to get more votes but it is really just driving the progressives away, the NDP while doing fairly well under Layton are stuck and don't have the legs to go any further.

Enter a refreshed Green Party

We should go into the next election preaching hope, and about what we would do to make things better, and not about the pending environmental disaster.

A Green vote is;

A strong voice on the world stage for Peace, Human rights, prosperity and security

Support for farmers and getting their local produce to your table

Healthcare that focuses on preventing you from getting sick, and getting you treated faster when you are sick

Clean air, Clean water, and safe food

Education that means something, and will help your children find jobs

For the new economy that will be about green jobs, and new technologies

For democratic renewal

For a civilized parliament that will work together on issues that matter to Canadians

Best practices in Law and order, the environment, development and everything else, in essence leave ideology on the table, if something works and it's better for Canada and Canadians we will back it and it does not matter where the idea came from in the first place.

Etc.

Notice I did not specifically bring up the looming environmental disaster we are facing, because people don't want to hear it, and they know that a vote for the Greens is the best choice for the environment, but they don't know what else we are good for, and if we want to be taken seriously we have to change the way we approach the environmental issue. We have very environmentalist roots and thats a great thing but activists by their very nature are fixated on certain issues and as a political party we can't do that, we have to speak to all the people and all their issues, however the most important way we differ from our competitors is our concern for the environment and that will inform all our decisions in small and large ways and thereby shape our ideas and policy.
